About

Therapy is being in community

I typically work with adolescents and adults with one or more marginalized identities, assisting them in navigating internal and external conflicts that may show up as symptoms of anxiety, depression, prolonged stress, procrastination, relationship difficulties, and other experiences of distress. These symptoms may manifest more intensely around life transitions. My approach to therapy is based primarily on your identified needs and goals for the treatment. I most frequently utilize interpersonal and psychodynamic psychotherapy combined with a cognitive behavioral approach in order to assist you in deepening your understanding of yourself and your behavior in relation to self and others. My warm and open communication style reflects my value of creating a safe and accepting environment in which exploration of difficult themes becomes possible. I often use reflective listening to help clarify thoughts and feelings in order to better understand your experiences. The therapeutic relationship is a form of being in community, and providing this experience to others is what attracted me to this field. I believe that change on an individual level may also facilitate change in one's own community, whether it is about improved communication of needs or more openness to experience.
